HOW TO MAKE EMOJIS FROM POLYMER CLAY

This is a fun project for older kids and adults. Finished emojis can be glued to magnet to create fun fridge art or fun embellishments for other creative projects.

MATERIALS

  • polymer clay (yellow, black, red, white)
  • plastic lid (for cutting round shapes)
  • cutting tool (we use an old paring knife)
  • smoothing tools (for shaping and bonding layers)
  • rolling pin (we used a glass jar)

INSTRUCTIONS

Roll out a flat of yellow clay to about 1/8″  (5mm) thick, press plastic lid into clay to cut rounds.

Roll a thin coil of black clay. Cut into segments to use for shaping smiles and other features.

For eyes roll rounds of black clay into circles or ovals, flatten and attach to yellow round.

Cut sunglasses or other emoji accessories from a thinly rolled strip of black clay.

For the Poop emoji, roll a coil of brown clay, making one end thinner than the other.  Coil it into a triangular shape and add white ovals of clay for eyes and mouth.  Add black clay circles for pupils.

Here are some other ideas to help inspire your imagintion.
